There’s $$ in Your Stuff!

OK, besides creating a clean, functional and attractive environment, there is value (pun intended) in clearing out and releasing your stuff.

Stuff can be sold. There are folks who can use what you don't want or need. Sites like Used Victoria (Craigs List & Kijiji) help you sell your stuff.

Stores like Good Things (Oak Bay Avenue) and Second Chance (James Bay) etc. offer local places to consign particular items where you get a percentage of the price sold.

There are Auction Houses – Lunds and Kilshaws…who will take art & collectibles and also case lots of household goods.

You may not make a lot of money selling your stuff, however some people have made a bundle – think Antiques Road Show. Even if you make a little, it's likely more than you're making with your stuff now – plus you need to spend time (and sometimes money) cleaning your stuff, looking for misplaced items, insuring it…

So, whether you make a little or a lot, an initial investment of some time and energy plus know how (learning how to post online, for example) can reap you a tidy sum.

And, in a reverse way, donating your stuff instead of selling it also brings value.  Just dropping your stuff at one location (some organization will even pick up from your home!) and you can save $$ if your time and gas costs (to truck things around) have value to you.

So – your stuff does have value, sometimes to you, in recaptured costs, and especially to others – the recipients of your released stuff.
